Jesus, our Advocate…

1 John 2:1  My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
Advocate…summoned, called to one’s side, one who pleads another’s cause before a judge,  counsel for defense, legal assistant, an intercessor, of Christ in his exaltation at God’s right hand, pleading with God the Father for the pardon of our sins.   This is the definition as given in strongs concordance.  Shouting ground, I say!  The devil, the old accuser, goes before God constantly accusing  God’s people.   Ever hear of Perry Mason? He supposedly never lost a case.  Jesus, for certain, has never lost a case!
Think of it, ol slewfoot says look what he’s done.  Jesus looks to the Father and says, “Covered, by the blood!”  Forgiven, pardoned!  The scripture tells us to be holy.  We should definitely strive to be holy… but ain’t it good to know when we fail, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous!  Knowing this truth, should we sin that grace may abound?  Paul’s answer is still good today…GOD FORBID!  Grace is not a license to sin, but rather a liberty to serve!  Why not take a few minutes to thank God that we, as God’s little children, have an advocate.  Jesus,  seated at God’s right hand, making intercession for us!  What a magnificent truth! Glory to His name! Amen.  Pastor
