Lessons from an Ant…

Proverbs 6:6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:  My dad had a different term for laziness, he called it being sorry!  He would say some people are so sorry they wouldn’t take a job in a pie factory tasting pies!  How true that is, though sad for sure.  How’s your work ethic?  The ants are little creatures, yet they work together to prepare for the future.  As God’s people, we should project this spirit in our work.  A preacher said years ago, “If you are a cotton picker you should determine to be the best cotton picking cotton picker pickin cotton!  Say that 10 times fast!  There’s much work to be done as we approach the coming of our Lord.  It’s not time to let up, it’s time to get up and do whatsoever the Lord has instructed us to do.  We should work with enthusiasm and rigor,  knowing for whom you labor.  The Bible clearly tells us that if a man won’t work, he shouldn’t eat!  There’s a huge difference between someone unable to work and someone unwilling to work. Years ago, Adrien Rogers said… “Friend, when half the people in a nation get the idea I don’t need to work, because someone will take care of me, and the other half get the idea, what’s the use to work, because someone will take it from me, that dear friend is about the end of any nation.”  Are we not guilty in America.  There are people unwilling to work who are well able to do so.  The government just keeps taking more and more in taxes from those who do work.  It is a vicious cycle predominantly because it is contrary to God’s word!  Would to God people would observe the ant, and learn!  There is no excuse for laziness among God’s people!  Pastor
