Evidently, Jonah thought so! And his reason was utter nonsense. Angry because God showered mercy upon the repentant Ninivites! How sad. There are a couple of people I’d like to mention that humanly speaking had every right to be angry. 1st Job. He was an upright man who prayed for his family and eschewed evil. Yet trouble came! Big trouble. Job lost his farm, his family, and eventually his health, yet Job said the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away , BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD! Job didn’t understand the trial, but he did understand this truth…
GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME! I like to say, on time, every time! Another that could have easily been bitter and angry was Joseph. God gave him a dream. He shared the dream with his jealous brethren and, as a result, was sold into slavery. His masters wife made an inappropriate advance, and Joseph flees! Yet his master had him locked up. Joseph interprets Pharoah’s dream and becomes 2nd in command in Egypt. He’s in a position to save his people, as well as forgive his brothers, all because he allowed the trials to make him BETTER not BITTER! Jesus warns us against anger without a cause. I know this, there will NEVER be a just cause to be angry with a perfectly holy and just Lord God Almighty! Amen. Pastor
