The Baptism of Jesus…

Mark 1: 9-11 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.  Notice the trinity in these verses.  Jesus is coming up out of the water, having been baptized by John.  The Spirit is descending like a dove, the Father is speaking from Heaven.  This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.  Jesus’s Baptism was to fulfill all righteousness. Mt 3:15.  You and I are baptized because we have been saved by God’s grace, and it is commanded of our Lord. Baptism is a picture of Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection!  Jesus tells us in scripture…” I do always those things that please the Father.”  Though we often fall considerably short, this should be our aim in life as well…to please the Father!  We know the number one thing that pleases God is faith.  Without faith it is impossible to please God. The Baptism of Jesus is a great victory.  Tomorrow we shall examine what follows this great victory.  It may surprise you!  God bless and have a great week. Pastor
