Power in words!

Proverbs 18:21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.  Words have power, power to hurt, power to heal, as well as power to help.
James 1:19  Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
It is relatively easy to get caught up in emotion and say something that may be true, yet would be much better unspoken.  We must learn, by God’s good grace and the help of the Holy Spirit to engage our brain before we open our mouth!  United States radio host Bernard Meltzer ran an advice call-in show from 1967 through the 1990s. Bernard is accredited with the following quote: “Before you speak ask yourself if what you are going to say is true, is kind, is necessary, is helpful. If the answer is no, maybe what you are about to say should be left unsaid.”
Always remember… Proverbs 25:11  A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.  May the Lord help us to understand that words have the power to build up, as well as to tear down.  I want to be in the building up business, what about you? Pastor
