1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
People have asked me this question… Pastor, do you like to hunt? My response has always been… No, I love to hunt! Perhaps you love football, baseball, volleyball, basketball, or some other sport. Is it wrong to enjoy these things? They certainly can be good things. Teaching us discipline, helping us physically, and so on. So, what’s the deal? These are good things UNTIL they keep you from the best thing in life, which is your purpose in the Lord Jesus. When that happens the good things become bad things because they are keeping us from the best thing, fellowship, and service to our creator! Years ago, I constructed a deer stand that is fully enclosed, has windows, a heater, food and drinks! Roughing it, I’ll say! But if you go to my stand, there’s something else you’ll find… A Bible, a Commentary or 2, verses written on the wood. You see, it’s not just a place of earthly pleasure, but also a place to enjoy fellowship with my Lord. He and I have had some wonderful times there.
I love to hunt. Yes. I love Him more. Absolutely! I can live without hunting, I cannot live without Him! Consider…
1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
Keep things in proper perspective, maintain a balance, and you’ll discover a joy that grows sweeter every day! Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Lord, thou knoweth all things. Help us to keep the main thing the main thing. In Jesus’s name. Amen. Pastor
