Deuteronomy 5:32 Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.  In Joshua 1:8, we see a phrase…”Observe to do.”  In the verse above, we find the first of 20 verses that use the exact same phrase.  Joshua is the only time SUCCESS is tied to this phrase.   There’s an important truth here.  We’re not supposed to observe to gain knowledge only, but to DO.  Consider… James 1:22  But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.  We are to read God’s word, meditate on God’s word, memorize God’s word, study God’s word, and share God’s word.    We can not afford to stop here. We must do God’s word if we expect to be successful in life.  Obedience is better than sacrifice.  The first mention of our phrase tells us to observe to do as the Lord commands.  Don’t turn to the left or the right.  Many of the problems we are facing today are the result of a society where “Every man does that which is right in his own eyes.”
The secret to success is to do that which is right in the eyes of the Lord.   You’ll find the instructions in God’s holy book,
