Crisis of Faith…

Isaiah 26:3  Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.  Faith is very important in the Christian’s life.  Without faith, it is impossible to please God.  The just shall live by faith!
Here is the trap we fall into if not very careful.   We get saved by the grace of God as we place our faith in the crucified and  risen Savior.  Then, we feel the need to try to do something to please God.  We started out trusting, then for some reason, we continue on in our Christian experience by trying.  This is absurd and doomed for failure.
We didn’t only get saved by grace through faith, but we are also to walk by faith!  The crisis in faith comes when we take our eyes off of the Master!  Ask Peter!  He began to sink… then cried, Lord, save me!  Ask John.
He sends his disciples to Jesus with a question… art thou he or should we look for another?  John, the very man that baptized Jesus.  The very man that proclaimed… behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world!  There is a crisis in his faith because he’s locked up in prison wondering…
What in the world is going on?
Jesus didn’t rebuke John.  He sent him this message…Matthew 11:5  The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.  Jesus then tells us there is none born of women greater than John!  When John heard the words of Jesus the crisis was over.  Remember… faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Stay in the book! It will dispell the crisis of faith. Amen.  Pastor
