Matthew 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Let’s examine our Lord going a little further as he faced the cross. These observations should apply to us as well. Remember our Lord told us, as He is so are we in this world!
First, Jesus went a little further inspite of the fact it was not easy. His agony in the garden is proof of that. Secondly, Jesus went a little further because His Father’s will was more important than His own. Consider… Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. And lastly, Jesus went a little further because he was fully aware of what was at stake. The redemption of mankind depended on His willingness to go a little further! Have you ever stopped to think that others are watching us. It is in the trials of life that our faith has opportunity to shine the brightest. How we react in the difficulties of life will go a long way toward influencing others, for good or for bad. Let your light so shine! Someone is watching! When things get rough, and they will, look to the Lord for some grit, DON’T QUIT!
I’m so thankful Jesus didn’t give up or give out in the garden. He went all the way to Calvary, and because He did, God’s redeemed get to go all the way to GLORY! Amen. Pastor
