Ephesians 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
When I was a teenager, I recall a conversation that took place with my dad. He said… “Son, we don’t have much, but we do have a good name. Please don’t drag our name through the mud.” The Apostle Paul in the scripture before us is reminding us as Christians to walk worthy of that name we are called by… Christ! They were called Christians first at Antioch. They did not call themselves Christians, but rather the world around them tagged them with that name because they were bold in their
faith , and they lived in such a way that they reminded the world around them of Jesus.
None of us are worthy in our own right. It is the righteousness of Christ that has been imputed to us that makes us worthy of heaven. That same righteousness allows us to walk worthy of this calling while here on the earth. We’ve been given a glorious name, as well as a wonderful opportunity to walk worthy of that name that is above all others. The name of Jesus! What a lovely name! Are you in His family?
Have you been changed by the power of His name? That’s exactly why they called them Christians in the book of Acts.
Their change was evident to the world around them. So much so that they were willing to endure persecution and even give their lives for their faith.
Walk worthy, the world will notice. Amen. Pastor
