One Thing is Needful…

Luke 10:42  But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.  This statement comes from an incident at the home of Martha and Mary.  Martha was occupied with serving.  Making sure everything was just right in her home.  Mary sat at the feet of Jesus, hearing his word, concerned that everything was right in her heart.  Jesus is not teaching that we should be unconcerned about service.  What He is teaching is that if we must choose between the two, sitting at His feet takes priority.
One thing is needful.   You can make cornbread without an egg. You cannot make it without corn meal.  A car will run without a plug wire, it will not run without a coil wire.  There are many things in the Christian’s life that compete for our attention.  Jesus is admonishing us not to neglect the good part.  The good part is the God part!  Take time to be Holy.  Hear his word and share your heart with Him.  Today is the day after Thanksgiving.   It’s not too late to thank the Lord who welcomes us into His presence.
The maniac who was delivered from the demons was found clothed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, and in his right mind.
Perhaps we could learn a lot from the maniac, and Mary!  Jesus said it shall not be taken away from her.   What I have found is it that this precious time cannot be TAKEN, but it can be TRADED.
What are you trading God time for?  Is it worth it?  I say not. Amen.  Pastor
