Matthew 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Oh how you and I that are saved should praise God for our good Shepherd. We have someone to lead us and to feed us. Someone to walk with us in our deepest valleys. Our Shepherd is there protect us and provide for us. Our verse today tells us that for the multitudes this is not so. Scattered, as sheep having no Shepherd. That describes most of the world today as it did in Jesus’s day.
Here’s the question… are we moved with compassion? People everywhere with no direction, no purpose, and no peace in their life. Listen to this verse… 1 Peter 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. You and I that know the Shepherd are looking for Him to appear. May the Lord move on our hearts as we walk this pilgrim way. There are those all around us who really don’t understand the importance of the virgin birth, the sinless life, the vicarious death, and the glorious resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
He wants to be their shepherd too. Lord, please help us to open our eyes, to open our hearts, and share with others the blessing of having a true and faithful Shepherd. Amen. Pastor
