Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.  This same passage is repeated in Proverbs 16:25. 
I don’t hurt people, I don’t cheat people, I’m a good person… surely that will gain me favor with God.  I go to church,  I give to charity,  I try my best to help those less fortunate… surely I’ll get into heaven when I die.  I provide for my family, I honor my mom and dad, I read my Bible and pray… surely this is the way to heaven.   There are many other things that some would add to the list of things in the way that “SEEMETH RIGHT.”
Jesus told Nicodemus,  a man that no doubt was in a way that seemed right, ye MUST be born again.  Has there been a time in your life when you realized you were a sinner and Jesus was the Savior?  You had nothing to offer Him, but He had everything to offer you.  In the way that seems right, it’s always about works of righteousness which we have done.  In the way that IS RIGHT we find it’s according to His mercy that He saved us.  Salvation is by grace, through faith.  Genuine salvation produces good works,
but remember please, genuine good works will NEVER produce salvation! Never, no never!  Think for a moment… if we could enter into heaven by behaving,  what would be the need for believing?  Why did Jesus have to die if we could enter in ANY other way?  There is no other way! John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Are you in the way that seems right, or the way that is right?
