James 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. The tongue is a little member that has the potential to be used in a big way for God and good. At the same time it can be like a small match that ignites a forest fire! James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. Remember, James was not addressing the heathen, he was addressing believers!
So, do we want our tongue to magnify the Devil in disgrace, or the Lord in love? Cursing or blessing? Good or evil? Is our tongue submitted in faith to the Master, or submerged in the flesh in a mess? In reality, the tongue is revelation of the heart. Consider… Matthew 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. The Pharisees were more concerned about what they were consuming in the flesh than what the were missing in the faith! Sad but true, that describes many today! When we were kids, on occasion my mom would say…
“Son, watch your mouth!” That was a warning, had I continued on and disregarded the warning, it would have wrought dire consequences. Perhaps we should watch our mouth, after all, others already are. Amen. Pastor
