Free from all, yet servant to all…

1 Corinthians 9:19  For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.  The Christian life is about freedom!
Jesus told us… ” If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”  Our text today may seem odd in a way.  Free from all, yet servant to all.  The Christian who understands his freedom knows the purpose of being free.  Freed from sin, that we might serve.  Christian service should not be… I HAVE TO, but rather I GET TO!  Paul said I have made myself servant to all.  Freed from the bondage of sin and religion,  Paul chose to be a servant to Christ and others.
True servants of Christ are motivated by love.  We love the Savior, we love the saints, and we love the sinner.   All because He first loved us!  Are you free today, spiritually speaking?  How are you using that freedom?  At the end of our verse Paul says… “That I might gain the more.”  If every child of God today would only realize why Christ has set them free!
Free to do His will!  Free to engage in His work!  Free to walk in His ways!  Some would see this as bondage.  In a way it is.  Paul as well as others in the Bible were bondservants of the Lord Jesus Christ.   Serving the Lord because he is a wonderful master is key.  Let’s determine to serve Him more, that we might gain the more. Amen.  Pastor
