Matthew 21:23 And when he (Jesus) was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?   Did you ever hear someone say… “Who died and made you boss?”  The Pharisees in our text are questioning the authority of the Lord Jesus.  Jesus instead of arguing with them, answers a question with a question.  The Baptism of John, was it from Heaven, or from men?  Now they are trapped!  If they say from Heaven, Jesus will say why did you not believe him?  If they say from men, it will create a problem with the people, for they considered John to be a prophet.  Whenever we begin to question or disregard the authority that God has placed in our lives it always ends up posing a problem.  Jesus is Lord.   When we receive Him he is both Lord and Savior!  The scripture teaches we are bought with a price, we no longer belong to ourselves.  We are to glorify God in our body, and in our spirit.  The only way this can happen is to recognize the authority of our Lord in our lives.   If we were to ask Jesus… “Who died and made you boss?”  His reply would simply be..
