Not far from the Kingdom…

Please read  Mark 12:28-34
Verse 34… And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the Kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.  Previously,  the Pharisees and Saducees had asked Jesus questions in an effort to TRAP Him.  Here, one of the Scribes is asking a question in search of the TRUTH from our Lord.  It’s one thing to come to Jesus sincerely with a question, and quite another to be playing games trying to disprove His Lordship and eternal power.  There were many who were close to Jesus physically,  yet far from the Kingdom of God.  One example is Judas.  Judas  kissed the door to Heaven, yet his heart was far from the Kingdom.  Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart.  It truly is a matter of the heart.  I wonder today, how many souls we encounter who are not far from the Kingdom?  Perhaps a kind deed would bring them even closer.  Perhaps a clear testimony as to how we entered into the Kingdom would help.  Perhaps a few verses of scripture, or a gospel tract,  for we know that faith cometh by hearing,  and hearing by the word of God.
Could it be that the last thing on the jailers mind in Acts 16 was the Kingdom of God.  Yet, when Paul and Silas were miraculously loosed from prison he had a question… a sincere question!
Sirs, what must I do to be saved?  The answer was plain, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,  and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.  Little did he know when Paul and Silas were being beaten and put in the stocks that he was NOT FAR from the Kingdom of God!  May the Lord help us to realize we encounter people often who are not far from the Kingdom.   All they need is someone to care enough to show them the door.  Jesus said… I am the door.  Amen.
