Praying persistently…

Nehemiah 4:9 Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.  Nehemiah and the people of God faced intense opposition as they endeavoured to build the wall in Jerusalem.   Sanballat and Tobiah were mocking the Jews.  The word NEVERTHELESS is important here.  They could have slowed down, they could have stopped, they could have talked to each other, but instead they talked to the Lord in prayer.  You will find many obstacles in your life, just as Nehemiah did in the work God called him to do.   May the Lord help us to develop a nevertheless prayer life!  One preacher said every failure is a prayer failure.  A story was told of a lady who would never say anything negative about anyone.   The pastor told some men to be listening after church,  he had devised a plan in his mind to get this lady to say something negative.  He said to the lady… sister, tell me, what do you think of the Devil?
She responded… he’s persistent!  Truly he is!  Are we persistent in prayer?  Many times in my life I have given up far too easily.   There’s too much at stake to give up on God.  We must pray on inspite of the opposition.   What if we looked at the opposition as an opportunity for our Lord to work?  Knowing that prayer is the key that unlocks the door of the omnipotent Saviour we serve!  Ephesians 6:18  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;  Amen.
