Abounding in the Work …

1 Corinthians 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.  God has given us the victory over death, hell, and the grave, therefore we are to abound in the work of our Lord!
In my shop there is a big drawer that contains several air tools.
Tools that are very instrumental in building cabinets.  I recall having two brad nailers that were the same.  At some point one of them quit working.   I left them both in the drawer thinking someday I’ll take the one that’s not working apart and try to repair it.  Inevitably at times I would grab the wrong one only to discover it didn’t work!  Why, you ask, because the two looked exactly the same on the outside,  the problem was internal.  Looking back, it would have been wise to set the nailer that didn’t work on the shelf, apart from the others.  In Christianity,  there are so many that appear the same, carry the same bible, talk the same language, go to the same church, yet do not abound in the work of the Lord.
The problem is internal!  One thing for sure, I discovered that I could not fix the broken brad nailer, but Jesus is well able to fix whatever might be ailing in our lives.  What is it that is keeping you from abounding in the work of the Lord?  He has a work for every one of His children.  Why not ask the Lord like Paul did… what would you have me to do?  Some might say I’m afraid to ask that… when we get that internal right, our heart, we’ll be afraid not to!
Lord, you’ve done so much for us, please help us today to abound in your work, knowing our labor is never in vain, in the Lord.  Amen.  Pastor
