Acts 8:31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. Please take time to read Acts 8:26-39. This story is absolutely fascinating! Philip is led by the Holy Spirit to go to the desert where he will meet an Ethiopian eunuch. There are three characters in the story that I wish to draw your attention to. In verse 27 we find A MAN of Ethiopia. This man represents the SINNER. The eunuch was the treasurer for the queen of Ethiopia yet something was missing in his life. He had traveled to Jerusalem to worship. In reality there is a empty place in every life that only the Lord can fill. In our text verse we find SOME MAN. This represents the soul winner. Philip was to be used of the Lord to guide the eunuch in his understanding of the scriptures. Philip had no ability whatsoever to save this man, but he could lead him to the one who would save! This brings us to the third man in our reading. Verse 34… And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
The third character is none other than the Lord Jesus! SOME OTHER MAN! Philip was able to help the eunuch understand that Isiah was not speaking of himself in Isaiah 53 but was prophesying concerning the suffering of the Savior that would be take place some 700 years later. In summary, somewhere today there is A MAN that needs SOME MAN to introduce them to SOME OTHER MAN. The greatest joy of my life, other than trusting Christ myself, is to have the privilege to introduce others to the Lord Jesus. The world is filled with those like the Ethiopian eunuch that are searching. The world needs more Philips! More men and women who will be sensitive to the Holy Spirits promptings, thereby introducing A MAN to SOME OTHER MAN. Truly, the harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Lord, help us this day to hear your voice, and the like Philip to heed the call.
In Jesus name. Amen. Pastor
