Luke 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. Mary Magdalene loved much because she had been forgiven much. This woman had seven devils, but one encounter with the Master changed all that! Listen to the description of her actions in Luke 7 proving her love for Jesus… She hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Oh my! What love! We might think something like this… of course she loved much, look what she was forgiven of. May I remind you that when we break God’s law in one area, we are guilty of breaking the entire law! According to the scripture, everyone that has been forgiven has been forgiven much. There is no such thing as big sinners and little sinners. The ground is level at the foot of the cross! I don’t know about you, but I never want to be guilty of loving the Lord a little!
He forgave Mary much and He forgave me much! There was evidence in her life of a great love for the Savior. How much evidence can be seen in our lives? Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. When we get this commandment right, all the others fall in place. I love Him today, all because He first loved me! Lord, help us to love you much, for truly we have been forgiven much. Amen. Pastor
