1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
In Moody’s Anecdotes we find these thoughts- Show me a church where there is love, and I will show you a church that is a power in the community. In Chicago a few years ago, a little boy attended a Sunday school I know of. When his parents moved to another part of the city, the little fellow still attended the same Sunday school although it meant a long, tiresome walk each way. A friend asked him why he went so far, and told him that there were plenty of others just as good that were nearer to his home.  “They may be as good for others, but not for me,” was his reply. “Why not?” she asked.  “Because they love a fellow over there,” he replied.  If only we could make the world believe that we loved them, there would be fewer empty churches and a smaller proportion of our population who never darken a church door. Let love replace duty in our church relations, and the world will soon be evangelized.
Compassion is love in action.
We are admonished in scripture in 1 John 3:18  My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.  Immediately upon receiving Christ as Savior, His great love is shed abroad in our hearts by His Spirit.  How can we love God and hate our fellow man?  Something is terribly wrong with that picture.  Loving God allows us to love our neighbors, and yes, even our enemies!  It is love in action that makes a difference.   Consider this, please-
Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:  Are you making a difference in someone else’s life?  If not, why not?  May the Lord help us to have the kind of love for others that would cause a little boy to say, “They love a fellow over there!”  Amen. Pastor
