Psalm 119:72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.
The Western U.S. gold rushes began in earnest on January 24, 1848, when James W. Marshall found flakes of gold at Sutter’s Mill in Coloma, California. This sparked the largest mass migration in American history as thousands of “forty-niners” traveled west, fundamentally transforming the region and accelerating California’s statehood in 1850. What if every child of God treated the Bible as if it were a prized possession? What if we were to go to great lengths to find those treasures that are to be found in only God’s word? What if the Bible really was valued above all the silver and gold in this world? There would be a gold rush of a different kind! The gold of this world will someday perish. The truths and treasures in God’s book are forever settled in Heaven and will live on forever and ever. It would do us good in the churches of America to have another gold rush! Though it be of a very different kind! Amen. Pastor
