2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? Many times believers are unaware of the impending danger of an unequal yoke. Many times relationships form more as a result of lust rather than love.
When we love God, we must pay attention to the admonition of scripture. When a believer marries an unbeliever, it will create problems in the marriage. Solomons heart was pulled away from God as a result of his wives love for idols.
1 Kings 11:2 Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love. This was the downfall of the wisest man who ever lived, apart from the Lord Jesus himself. If you are seeking a mate in life, the best advice is to pray and let God lead you. To honor God would be to get married to a person of like faith.
Our marriage is to reflect the glory of God. Marriage is also a picture of Christ, the bridegroom, and His church, the bride. Perhaps you are already married to an unbeliever. Don’t seek a divorce. Seek God’s face for the salvation of your mate. 1 Peter 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; I believe this would work for the husband as well. Do you have a Godly mate? Then shout the praises of God and thank Him today. Amen. Pastor
