Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.  Thermometers are used for many different reasons.  They reveal the temperature of our bodies, the temperature of our homes, as well as things like the temperature of the oven that is about to bake a cake.  According to our verse, God has made man in such a way that the temperature of his heart, his spirituality if you please,  can be measured.  The heart is reflected in what comes out of our mouth!  There it is, right under our nose!   James 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.  How confusing it must be to others when we say we are Christians and yet the temperature changes by the minute!  One minute blessing,  the next minute cursing.   My wife uses a probe that reaches to the inside of the steak to tell her when it’s cooked just right.  She’s good at it too!  The world around us need not stick a probe in us to determine our spiritual temperature.   All they have to do is hear what’s coming out of our mouth!  According to God’s word that is an indication of what’s going on in the heart.
Really, the mouth is not the problem, it’s just the thermometer, one must look deeper to get to the heart of the matter!  Amen.  Pastor
