Be still and know…

Psalm 46:10   Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.  Now, it’s 9:30 on Sunday evening as I’m preparing this devotion for Monday.   I’m being still, trying to find the mind of God for the devotion, and then something  happened… I fell asleep twice!  Jesus went into the garden to pray. He asked his disciples to watch and pray.  They kept falling asleep also!  Not exactly what our Lord intended in the stillness. Amen.  So what did he intend?  Our Lord desires that we be still that we may KNOW Him.  Paul said in Philippians 3:10  That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;  The Apostle already knew Jesus in the free pardon of sin.  Paul’s desire was to know the Lord in a much more intimate way.  This requires a willingness to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and be still before Him.  Much easier said than done!  What happens when a believer takes time out to be with Jesus?  I can personally attest to this… there is an intense desire to EXALT Him!  Know Him, exalt Him! Now that’s a recipe for a wonderful life.  John the Baptist said, “He must increase,  I must decrease!” John had it absolutely correct! Do we? Pastor
