John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. In this verse, we find that an important part of the joyful life is prayer. We are told to rejoice in the Lord alway. Another passage admonishes us to pray without ceasing. See how joy and prayer are intertwined? If we would examine our lives, we would find the days absent of prayer are the same days absent of joy!
Consider…1 John 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. We have established that our Lord desires that we come to Him with our requests. In this verse, John tells us about the importance of what he has written in having the fullness of joy! Think of it…God wants us to pray…talk to Him! Then God wants us to read the Bible…He talks to us! Ain’t that good!
When prayer and God’s word are neglected, there will be no joy unspeakable and full of glory! One more passage…2 John 1:12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
Lastly, we see the importance not only of prayer and our Bible, but also the face to face fellowship with God’s people! I don’t know what I’d do without my precious people! Their presence in my life is a great source of joy! Can’t wait to see them Sunday!
