Getting good advice…

Proverbs 11:14  Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.
Wise counsel is extremely important.  There have been times in my life that I just could not get settled on a very important decision.  The first that comes to mind is when the Lord was dealing with me about leaving the first church I pastored.  I sought counsel from some very Godly men.  They all told me basically the same thing… I wouldn’t leave without a place to go.  Their counsel was taken to heart.  Truly, they all meant well.  One day as I was seeking God’s face about the decision,  I read a verse in Hebrews 11 that settled it instantly!  Abraham obeyed God, not knowing whither he went!  The Lord was testing my faith.  After all, a faith that cannot be tested is a faith that cannot be trusted!  I look back on my ministry and in my heart I know that was a defining moment.  Now, my point is this…Seek wise counsel,  there is safety in doing so!  But always remember this, as believers we have access to the wisest counsel of all…the Word of God and the God of the Word!
I do not wish to minimize human counsel, but rather to maximize our Lords counsel.
Consider… James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Pastors, parents, and peers, can all be voices that we can lean on for advice. Just remember,  the most important voice is the voice of the shepherd, He will never  lead us astray.   Thank you Lord for leading the way in our lives. Amen. Pastor
