Growing thru Hardship…

2  Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;  Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
Our Lord is a compassionate,  comforting Father of mercies!  Why does he comfort us… because He loves us!  Not only because He loves us, but because He loves others as well.  When Jesus was preparing to die, He told his disciples in John 16:7  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.  The comforter is the precious Holy Spirit!  Every true believer is in dwelt by Him.  He leads, He guides, He comforts, that we might be able to comfort others.  How is it that Paul and Silas were able to sing and praise God in the hardship of prison?  It was because the comforter was WITH them!  Now see what happens… they are comforted, then they turn around and bring comfort and salvation to the jailer!  It is said over and over in Genesis 39…
and the Lord was with  Joseph!  He could comfort his brethren because the Lord had comforted him in his affliction.   Many of you I am speaking to have endured extreme hardship.  Someone else is going thru something very similar.  Why not allow the Lord Jesus to use you as a vessel of consolation in someone else’s life?  My prayer often is this… Lord, please help me that I might be a help to someone else along life’s way.
Amen.  Pastor
