Luke 1:66 And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him. Oh beloved, to have God’s hand on our lives, our homes, our churches, and our country!
Truly John the Baptist had an outstanding ministry because the hand of our Lord was upon him. John’s ministry was brief, yet very powerful. He thundered the message of repentance to all, including the religious hierarchy and kings! He was not afraid to preach against sin! He was not afraid to be dogmatic concerning the Savior! Even though the hand of God was obvious, there was a time when John doubted. Consider his message to Jesus as well as our Lord’s response..
Luke 7:.19 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? Luke 7:22-23 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. A person who has the hand of God on them is not exempt from trials or doubts! We know full well our God is MIGHTY, MERCIFUL, and to be MAGNIFIED by his children on the earth. Shall we dare proceed to accomplish our purpose apart from the good hand of our God. Nehemiah, like John, fully understood!
Nehemiah 2:8 … And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
Do others see the hand of God at work in our lives? That should ever be our prayer!
Amen! Pastor
