1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; In this verse we understand John was able to HEAR the Lord, SEE the Lord, LOOK UPON the Lord, And HANDLE the Lord! No wonder John wanted others to experience joyful fellowship with the Lord! In the book of Hebrews we find the phrase LOOKING UNTO JESUS, the author and the finisher of our faith. Looking denotes a consistency in our faith. Looking unto Jesus each and every day. We must realize without Him we can do nothing! The joyful life is found in our walking and talking with our Savior and friend. There is something magnified later in the chapter that is the reason many do not enjoy intimate fellowship with the Lord. 1 John 1:6-7 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. Many are missing this joy unspeakable because there is sin that has not been confessed and cleansed by our Lord’s precious blood. Remember this…if we will confess our sin…HE IS FAITHFUL to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. David discovered in Psalm 51 that failure is not final! He humbled himself, and was able to walk in joyful fellowship once again. It’s a blessing to know the same Savior that had mercy on David still has mercy for you and me. Glory! Amen. Pastor
