Knocking holes in the darkness…

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Today’s passage reminds me of a story I read years ago. A little boy in an old west town was looking out the store window one evening. He was looking down the street and watching men light the lanterns along the street. An elderly man approached him from behind and asked…what are they doing son? The boy replied…They’re knocking holes in the darkness! This world is a dark place! In the creation our Lord knocked holes in the darkness! He gave us the sun, the moon, and the stars! At Calvary, it got very dark, but in the end our Lord was fixing it so you and I could get out of darkness and walk in his marvelous light! You and I as Christians should be looking for opportunities to let our light so shine, thereby knocking holes in the darkness while we roam the earth! I remember being in a prison revival when the power went out. There in that little Chapel it was so dark you couldn’t see ANYTHING! One of the inmates had his cigarette lighter. When he lit it there was a great relief on my part. Only time in my life I can remember being glad to be a part of the smoking section! Just a little light made a huge difference! May God help us…this little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…amen! Philippians 2:15
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
