Ruling our spirit…

Proverbs 16:32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.  Have you ever met a HOT HEAD?  Have you ever been one?  It has been proven that unnecessary anger is detrimental to one’s health.  I’m reminded of a message the Lord gave me years ago.  I was holding an aresol can, and the words ” Contents under pressure” caught my attention.
Immediately, I began to think of the encounters with people through the years when the pressure was obvious!  In our homes,  most still have a hot water heater with a pop off valve on it.  The valve is in place to keep the water heater from exploding!  Two things cause the valve to pop off.  Firstly,  extreme pressure, then extreme temperature.   Many people today are living under extreme pressure!  The pop off valve on us humans is found right under our nose, it’s our mouth!  Sometimes, we pop off and end up putting our whole foot in our mouth!  Now, here’s the deal, we either pray before we pop, or we’ll have to pray after we pop!  It’s a whole lot better to seek God’s help beforehand so that we can control our spirit than to have to pray afterward and get right with God and others.
Psalm 145:8  The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.  Let’s ask the Lord to help us be more like Him. Pastor
