The Passover Lamb…

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
In the Old Testament the children of Israel were in bondage in Egypt.   The last judgement was the death of the firstborn throughout the land of Egypt.  God told Moses, and in turn Moses told the children of Israel how to escape the coming judgement.   They were to kill a spotless male lamb.  Then they were to catch the blood in a basin, apply the blood with hyssop, to the door posts and the lintel.  God said when I see the blood I will pass over you.  Each year the Israelites would commemorate this awesome deliverance by partaking of the ceremonial Passover.  In the OT the lamb put off the sins of the people from year to year.  Jesus didn’t come to put off our sin but rather to take it away!   Remember this, the blood in the BODY of the lamb was not sufficient.   Also, the blood in the BASIN or on the BRUSH (hyssop) was not sufficient.   Only the blood APPLIED as God instructed was sufficient.  Notice it was applied to the lintel…above the door, as well as the door posts…both sides of the door.
It was not applied to the threshold!  Jesus’s blood was shed that we might walk THROUGH not ON his precious blood! Consider…
Hebrews 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
Has this blood been applied in your life?  If so, REJOICE!  For your sins are GONE! Amen! Pastor
