John 4:14  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.  There are two kinds of water, physical and spiritual.  Our bodies cannot survive without water. A garden cannot grow without water. The woman at the well had come with a pail to fetch physical water. Our Lord uses water in the spiritual sense as it is just as necessary for spiritual life.
Jesus tells us in John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  Think of it, the very essence of spiritual life flowing out from God’s children to a lost and dying world.  This same woman goes back to town saying…Come see a man that told me all things I ever did, is not this the Christ?  Many believed as a result of that living water that was now flowing from her life!   Do you know what a soul winner is?  It’s one beggar telling another beggar where he found bread!  Aren’t you glad when we come to Jesus we not only discover the Bread of Life but the Water of Life as well!   Jesus cried from the cross I thirst! There’s a song that says …I thirst yet He made the river, I thirst yet He made the sea, I thirst said the King of the ages, in His great thirst, He brought water to me!  Hallelujah! What a Savior!
