Why John Writes…

John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:  But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
Can you think of a better reason to write?  Believe, believe, believe!  Live, live, and live forever!  After all, without faith, it is impossible to please God!  John, the beloved disciple,  lived his life in very close communion with the Savior.   There are many reasons he could have given for writing, but
he chose the purest reason of all…OTHERS!  You see, when we live close to Jesus and understand His heart, that which is important to Him becomes important to us.  The souls of men…thats why He came, that’s why He lived, that’s why He died, that’s why He rose again!  Truly, when we believe correctly,  we will desire to behave correctly!  John writes that we might believe, knowing that true faith produces love, joy, and peace.  John wants you and me to know we are saved, born again,  on our way to the city of God!  Thank the Lord for men like John!  He went all the way to Calvary with Jesus.  He was later exiled on the Isle of Patmos for the Word of God and his testimony… BUT… He was in the Spirit on the Lords Day!  I encourage new believers to read through the book of John, why, that God might increase their faith!  Thank you, Lord, for John, and help us to live in such a way that others might believe. Lord, John wrote his message to the world.  Help us to declare it, that more people might believe.  Amen.  Pastor
