Romans 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. The word yield here comes from a Greek word meaning…to stand beside, stand by or near, to be at hand, be present. No wonder Paul told us in 1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. We’re told when it comes to sin…don’t stand by it or near it! But when it comes to yielding yourselves unto God …stand by Him! Get close to Him! The word instrument comes from a Greek word meaning…any tool or implement for preparing a thing. Our Lord desires that we yield ourselves unto Him that we might be used by him in the greatest work on the planet…the work of God! In my shop I have many different tools. Each one has a specific purpose. One thing that is lacking in the church today is the people of God knowing their purpose, and then fulfilling that purpose for the Glory of God. Could it be the main reason for this is that men and women, boys and girls, have never discovered the true meaning of yielding themselves unto God? Notice the scripture says…”Yield yourselves” you cannot yield for another, neither can another yield for you! Can you honestly say…I am yielded? Those yielded to God will hear the Him say…WELL DONE!
Lord help us this day, to happily yield to the one who loved us and gave himself for us. Amen
