A Time to Speak… Ecclesiastes 3:7  A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;  In the following two verses we find a perfect illustration of a time to keep silence,  and a time to speak.  Mark 15:61-62 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
The high priest and the mob just wouldn’t give up.  They demanded an answer from Jesus.  The answer was found in His response… “I am.”  They hated Jesus because he claimed to be the Son of God.  In His response He is letting them know He is not only the Son of God, but the Son of man as well.  Because He is the Son of man, He knows what we are facing,  as well as what we are feeling.   He was tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin.  When we are faced with ridicule, it would be good to remember the example of our Lord.  A time to say nothing at all,  and a time to speak up.  How can we distinguish between the two?  There’s really only one way, we must walk with God  and  be led by the Holy Spirit.  Years ago, when I had only been saved for two weeks, a man looked at me and said… I still don’t know if you are saved.  It hurt me deeply.  I was silent at first.  Then with a broken heart and tears I responded…  brother the devil was there the night I was saved, he knows I’m saved, the Lord was there the night I was saved, and He knows I’m saved.  Brother, I was there the night the the Lord saved me, and I know I’m saved.  It really doesn’t matter if you ever know it.  I truly believe that man had no business,  nor do I, saying what he said.  I also believe God gave me that response in that moment of time.  A time to keep silence,  a time to speak.  In Jesus’s response to the high priest He revealed the Lord is coming.  With His coming in mind, may we be able to discern when we should keep silent,  and when we should speak. Amen.  Pastor
