A delivering prayer…

Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:  And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.  This is recorded by a man after God’s own heart.   David knew the importance of this prayer from experience.  I don’t believe David just woke up one day and decided to commit adultery.  His heart was gradually pulled away from the things of God.  Now he’s sharing with us an avenue to take that we might not drift into sin.  Search me!  Our Lord has a couple of wonderful search lights!   One is His WORD!  Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,  and a light unto my path!  Do you think David had  been in the  word that day when he fell into sin?  I think NOT!  If the word is the bulb in God’s searchlight, then the HOLY SPIRIT is the batteries!  The blessed Holy Spirit has the power to shine God’s word into our hearts and reveal the little things that just may become BIG things if left unchecked.   I’m sure you could walk into the kitchen at your house,  especially if you knew  company was coming, and find the sink , the counters, and the floors nice n clean n tidy.  Now, what if a guest took a flashlight and wanted to look under the fridge?  Are you kidding me!  That part is not examined or cleaned nearly as often as the parts of the kitchen you see every day.   Most of us do a pretty good job with the part of our lives that are seen.  Today’s devotion is about asking the King of Glory to shine the light on the unseen, our heart, and reveal any wicked way the master might find.  Why, because in so doing, David has learned that’s the secret of being DELIVERED FROM the sin that so easily besets us!  I’ll close with this verse… 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.  God is able… we must be willing. Amen.  Pastor
