Tell me WHY? …

Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  The disciples were oblivious to the WHY as Jesus was led to Calvary.  They just couldn’t understand WHY a man who went about doing good had to suffer such grief and woe.  There will be times in our suffering,  or in the suffering of a loved one, that the age old WHY will pop up in our hearts and minds.  You have probably heard this… you should never ask WHY.  May I remind you that our Lord from the cross of Calvary cried… My God, my God,  WHY hast thou forsaken me?  It is in this question that our Lord’s humanity is revealed.  Yes,  He is very much God.  Yes, He is very much man as well.   He alone can help us with the depths of our WHY.  It is not wrong to ask God a question.   It is wrong to question God.  We must believe that He has an eternal purpose in our suffering just as He had in His own suffering.   The disciples did not understand the WHY at that time.  They do now!  It was absolutely necessary for Jesus to die that we might live in eternity with Him.   The songwriter said He’ll tell us all about it in the bye and bye.  Until then, may God give us the grace to trust Him more and more.  Pastor,  I don’t understand.  Why?  I’ll let you in on a little secret.  I don’t understand either!  Many times the righteous suffer while the ungodly seem to prosper.  But then I remember this,.. our suffering is temporal, theirs is eternal.   Yet a little while and He that shall come, will come!
The why will shrink in the presence of the ONE THAT LOVED US, AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR US!  Glory to His name!  Amen.  Pastor
