James 1:6-8 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. This is a very important truth! When we pray, our prayers must be mingled with faith. The disciples had the privilege to walk with the Lord. They saw the miracles. They experienced his compassion. They traveled and ate with Jesus. It is noteworthy that in all this marvelous ministry there were two things the disciples asked Jesus for. First, they said… ” Lord, teach us to pray.”
Then in another text they said… “Lord, increase our faith.” Consider these verses…Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Here it is praying that keeps us from giving up, or fainting in the work our Lord has given us to do. Now consider… Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Here we see the emphasis put on the Spirits leading in our prayers. Lastly consider this verse… 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: Do you have this kind of confidence when you pray? I must admit there are times when my faith is weak. What about you? He knoweth our frame. We can be honest with the Lord. He already knows anyhow. Lord, help us to pray in faith believing your promises are always true. Amen. Pastor
