God’s Word is like a Hammer! …

Jeremiah 23:29  Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?   Carpenters tools have changed somewhat over the years.  Now days a carpenter many times is reaching for a nail gun instead of a hammer.  One pull of the trigger and the nail is driven and set!  There are framing nailers, finish nailers, brad nailers, and roofing nailers.
The one you reach for is determined by the job at hand.
The job at hand in the work of the Lord is to make us more like Jesus.  Even though the carpenter today may use a nail gun, you rarely catch him without a hammer on his side.
The hammer is used many times to bump things in place.  There are times we get things out of place and our Lord will use his word to bump things in place!  The hammer is almost always needed when tearing something apart.  God’s word will tear those things apart that are not good for us and will destroy us if left in tact.  Then think of this… the hammer is a tool to build with.  I have several hammers and each one has a specific purpose.   God’s precious word is used in our lives to build us up in the faith.  So yes, the Bible will break the rock in pieces,  but it will also build a life that honors God! Amen.  Pastor
