Sin is like a termite…

Psalm 32:3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. When David kept silent, his sin was eating at him on the inside.   My dad and I were contractors years ago.  Several times in our work we were called upon to inspect a dwelling to find out why a wall was settling.   Years ago, houses were constructed on huge wooden beams that rested on rock pillars.  When we crawled under the structure we discovered termites had devoured the beam!  There are several ways sin can be like a termite.  First, the termite operates in the dark!  Does that not describe how sin works? Secondly, they are working slowly and diligently,  they don’t finish the job overnight.  They’re persistent!  Next, much damage has been done before they are discovered.  Think of the damage in the life of David that was done while the termite of sin was eating at him.  Lastly,  termites must be dealt with.  Just pretend they are not there and soon the whole house will fall!  I actually preached in a church that years later had to be completely rebuilt because of termites.  If someone would have called the exterminator, it might have been different.   Please don’t let the termites of sin work in your life. Call the exterminator!  That’s what David did!  Read Psalm 51.  1 John 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  Amen.  Pastor
