2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. In life, we have a choice, focus on the temporal, or focus on the eternal. Have you ever seen this… take a blank piece of white paper, touch it with a sharpie and then ask someone… what do you see?
It never fails… the answer will be a dot, or a black dot. Hardly ever will someone say… a white piece of paper with a dot on it.
In life we are prone to see the dots, or the negative things, while taking for granted and ignoring all the positive things.
In the spiritual realm it goes even deeper. We should focus on what really matters, the eternal. I used to get so angry and frustrated so easily. Then I learned a trick in dealing with the things of earth. I would stop and think, this time next week this will be in the rear view mirror, one way or another, why get upset over it. It really helped me to settle down. Instead of getting upset over the water heater going out, thank God for cold water! And then thank Him for a home in Heaven that will never need repair! We’re not talking about be a super saint, we’re talking about a right focus. I have some really nice optics that I use in hunting. They are worthless if not focused properly! Everything is a blur! That’s just about how we are if we’re not real careful. Focus, look up today, our redemption is drawing nigh! Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace. Amen. Pastor
