Psalm 23:3  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  Have you ever heard someone say…  ” For God’s sake, do this or that,  or stop this or that?”   Sometimes this phrase is used out of desperation and is actually using God’s name in vain.  David uses the phrase ” For His names sake” sincerely.  In obedience to his father,  David was a good SON for His name’s sake.   Caring for the sheep, David was a great SHEPHERD for His name’s sake.  Then one day in the valley as he faced Goliath, David was a great SOLDIER for His name’s sake!  I want to be a good husband, a good father, a good papaw, a good pastor, for His name’s sake!  David’s motivation is found in the message he expressed as he faced the giant… 1 Samuel 17:46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.  That all the earth may know… a wonderful motivation to walk in the paths of righteousness, For His name’s sake!  Amen.  Pastor
