Mark 10:43-44 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. The absolute greatest honor any child of God can experience is being a servant! We are never more like Jesus than when we are serving. The disciples at times had to be reminded of this truth. We must be reminded as well! Listen to the Apostle Paul… 1 Corinthians 9:19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. Paul realized that Jesus did not set us free to sin, but rather to serve! This dear man of God was looking to gain the more! Paul believed what Jesus had taught… If you wanna be great, find a place to serve!
Now, there’s two kinds of greatness… greatness in the eyes of men, and greatness in the eyes of God. Living in a mansion, servants to clean, cook, and carry out the chores equates greatness in the eyes of men. You’d be surprised how many of those people are miserable.
Praying for others, witnessing to others, and helping others in voluntary service is marked as greatness in the sight of God. Paul was a servant of the Lord, which made him a servant to others. Consider this chorus…
Yes, others, Lord, yes, others,
Let this my motto be;
Help me to live for others,
That I may live like Thee,
Amen. Pastor
