Ephesians 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
I recall my dad’s story concerning him and my grandpa using a crosscut saw.
This was long before the days of chainsaws. There’s a big long blade with a handle on each end. On opposite sides of the tree, two men must work together to cut the tree down. One man is pushing while the other is pulling. Once in a while my grandpa had to remind dad of his responsibility. “Quit riding the saw son.” Dad was going through the motions but wasn’t pulling his share of the load! No one could tell by looking at the two working, but my grandpa could tell because he was on the other end of the saw! I wonder how many in the body of Christ are doing the same thing? They attend church, carry a Bible, but when it comes to doing their part, they’re just going through the motions! When the church is working together in harmony it will accomplish the task at hand without anyone carrying an undue burden. Consider… Psalm 133:1 A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! God’s people dwelling together and working together truly is a thing of beauty! Amen. Pastor
