Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. There are some things money can’t buy, and money can’t fix!
Many in this world have plenty of money, but very little happiness. Others find out the hard way that a bad Dr’s report can soon make riches seem very unimportant.
In our text there is a man that was laid at the at the gate called Beautiful to beg for alms. When Peter said to him, “Look on us” this man was expecting to receive “something” when in fact he was about to receive everything! In this early period of church history our Lord used signs and wonders to show that He was in fact the Son of God and Peter was God’s man. Money can buy medicine but money cannot buy healing. This man who was lame from birth, and sat at the gate begging for alms, is now on his feet leaping and praising God for his ability to walk. We get so excited when our children or grandchildren take their first steps. We don’t know for sure how old this lame man was but we do know he and those around him were thrilled at his ability to rise up and walk! Someone said… If you want to feel rich, count all the things you have that money can’t buy! Silver and gold cannot buy a home in heaven, health, or happiness. The cost of God’s salvation is not money, but Calvary! Consider… 2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. Those, like the lame man, who have experienced the grace of almighty God are rich! Perhaps this is what wisdom was speaking of in Proverbs 8:18 Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. Money can’t buy wisdom. The lame man is leaping because he is able to walk. What are we doing because of all that God has provided for us that money can’t buy? We ought to be thankful! Amen. Pastor
