Abounding in God’s work…

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.  As we approach Resurrection Sunday, we should ask ourselves a question… Am I abounding in the work of the Lord.  Are we steadfast and unmoveable in our work for the Lord? There are three essential ingredients in the life of the believer who desires to abound in the work of the Lord.  They are PRAYER, FAITH, and WORK.  Truly we are saved by faith! For by grace are ye saved, through faith! It is just as true that we are created in Christ Jesus unto good works!
Years ago I heard a man of God say this… Pray as if everything depends on God, work as if everything depends on you.  Prayer is never a substitute for work and work is never a substitute for prayer.  A life of faith understands that prayer and work go hand in hand!  If we are to abound in the work of the Lord we must heed the words of the songwriter… Trust and obey, for there’s no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.  Another song says… We’ll work, till Jesus comes, we’ll work, till Jesus comes,  we’ll work, till Jesus comes, and we’ll be going home.  The enemy of our soul whispers… It’s all in vain.
Our Lord tells us our labor is not in vain, in the Lord!  Who will we believe?  Believe the lie, and you will give up and quit on God. Believe the truth and you will continue steadfast,  unmoveable,  always abounding in the work of the Lord!  Amen.  Pastor
