Galatians 5:7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
Paul is addressing the church at Galatia. The issue he is addressing is one of law vs grace. The Judiasers were trying to hinder the Galatian believers by mixing the doctrine of law and grace. The law is our schoolmaster, pointing out our guilt that we might run to Jesus for salvation. Paul tells them to stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Many who are delivered from the bondage of sin turn around and find themselves tangled up in the bondage of religion. Jesus died to set us FREE! Never free to do as we please, but free to live that we might please Him. Think of it, we bow our hearts to the Lord and get saved by trusting Him and Him alone to save us. We were saved by faith, now we are to live by faith. So many have the idea that we’re saved by trusting, then we live the rest of our lives trying. This will hinder anyone who seeks to please the Lord.
Without faith it is impossible to please the Lord! The enemy sees that he lost a soul, that soul is now safe in the hand of God. So what does he do? He sets out to hinder those who desire to walk by faith and please the Lord. The devil is a sly old fox. If he can’t trip you up with sin, he’ll resort to other tactics. He’ll get you tangled up in your service, trying, trying, trying, when in fact you’re supposed to be trusting! Trying brings bondage, trusting brings freedom. Those who have some success trying usually end up thinking more highly of themselves then they ought to think! Walk by faith, not by sight. That way God gets the glory for anything and everything that is accomplished through our lives. Who did hinder you? Better yet, who can help you? His name is Jesus! Amen. Pastor
